According to WalletHub, Chicago was named the 8th most fun city of 2023, on their list of the Most Fun Cities in America in 2023. Chicago was listed 8th behind Las Vegas at number 1 followed by Orlando at 2, Miami at 3, Atlanta at 4, San Francisco at 5, New Orleans at 6, and Austin at 7.

How did they determine the ranking?

WalletHub says on their site...

"To help Americans find the cities with the most significant number and variety of fun yet cost-effective options, WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities based on 65 key metrics. They range from fitness centers per capita to movie costs to the average business hours of breweries."

Chicago finished 8th in the Entertainment & Recreation category, but wayyyy down at 144th in the Cost category.

Is Chicago ranked in the right spot?

In my humble opinion...no, it is not ranked in the right spot. I think it is smart to put Chicago ahead of New York City ranked 10th, and Los Angeles ranked 20th. And I agree that Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami, and New Orleans should be ranked ahead of Chicago, but that's it. Chicago should be 5th on this list. No other city in the USA is the combination of a massive metropolis with incredible neighborhoods, world-class bars, restaurants, entertainment, plus, 5 major sports teams, an incredible riverwalk, and sandy beaches! Chicago can't compete with Vegas, Orlando, Miami, and New Orleans for pure fun, but beyond that, Chicago tops every other major American city.
