
US Marshals Capture Illinois Homicide Suspect Hiding in Texas
A suspect in a reckless homicide case in Illinois has been found by US Marshals who captured the man hiding in Texas.
Juan Jahaziel Saenz-Suarez was arrested on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 in Milford, Texas according to a statement from the US Marshals. He is a suspect in a crash that happened on January 19, 2025 in Urbana, Illinois. Two passengers in a car stopped at a red light were reportedly killed when a car driven by Saenz-Suarez rear-ended them.
The report says that he is a Mexican citizen and has been deported from the United States once already.
The US Marshals say that Juan Jahaziel Saenz-Suarez was wanted on Champaign County IL warrant(s) for Reckless Homicide (Class 3 Felony) and Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident (Class I Felony). He is currently being held in a Dallas, Texas jail awaiting extradition back to Illinois to face these charges.
The US Marshals investigation made it clear that Saenz-Suarez was fleeing to the south which is when the Texas task force became involved.
This capture was the result of work by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force which includes officers in Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois in conjunction with the USMS Northern District of Texas North Texas Fugitive Task Force.
