Hannibal’s iconic restaurant, Becky Thatcher's Diner, is back open today and serving its breakfast and lunch specials after a drug-crazed man caused such utter destruction the business had to close its doors.

It was six weeks ago that an employee of Becky Thatcher's Diner opened the door to start the morning routine to find a naked man nestled in a bed of insulation. The restaurant had been ransacked; wrecked so completely it took a month and a half to repair the damage.

Here's the Facebook post from Becky Thatcher's Diner on February 11:

We will be closed until further notice. The diner was vandalized last night by a drug crazed lunatic. Damage is extensive to the building and equipment. We have started professional clean up and will start on reconstruction as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and will expedite re-opening. It literally broke my heart to see the destruction of our wonderful facility and our business that you have all supported faithfully for the last 6 years.

Police arrested 34-year-old Brian A. Griggs of Hannibal for the crime.

As of today, the diner is back open serving breakfast and lunch at 213 N. Third St. in Hannibal.
