Farmers Almanac Suddenly Shares Red Flags About Missouri’s Winter
I am not a fan of winter and find it hard to even look at my snow shovel. I might need to change my attitude if Farmer's Almanac is right about Missouri's upcoming winter season. They say there are red flags of trouble everywhere.
Farmer's Almanac just issued their outlook for winter 2025 which is hard to believe we're not that far away from. If you look at their words for Missouri and the Midwest there are several troublesome phrases. Here's one. "Above-average precipitation" is forecast for Missouri and the middle of America, but that's not really the problem part. Here are their exact words about what Missouri snow-haters should watch out for:
"We are “red flagging” the final week of January". They warn that a storm track is expected to bring "frequent bouts of heavy precipitation, as well as strong and gusty winds".
How does Farmer's Almanac come up with these forecasts for Missouri for months from now?
They have been doing this for 200 years and say that they look at "correlations between celestial events and various meteorological conditions". This is me pretending I know what they're talking about. If I remember right, I thought that part of their formula involved sun spots and moon phases, but I reserve the right to be wrong.
Regardless, it might be a good idea to watch early 2025 for some nasty winter moments in Missouri, but that's truthfully not that different from normal, right? Sooner or later, we and our snow shovels will be forced to become friends - again.
