What was it like to be explorers like Lewis & Clark? Some Eagle Scouts from Pennsylvania are learning that experience as they cruise down the Missouri River on a raft with the final destination being in Illinois.

KQ2 in St. Joseph, Missouri just shared a neat story about this group of scouts who are on quite a journey. They spent months preparing for a retrace of part of Lewis & Clarks route including designing and building the raft themselves. They just made a stop in St. Joseph, Missouri.

One of the Eagle Scouts told the reporter that they're not after fame, but it's more of a bonding experience where they're learning how to get along while they travel the Missouri River on a relatively small raft in confined space. The goal is to return home better people and to learn to live their lives better.

They've apparently already had to navigate through some stormy weather as their path will take them all the way across Missouri with the final destination being in Cairo, Illinois.

I never reached the rank of Eagle Scout, but did spend years of my youth in scouting and still have memories of the many camping and canoe trips among some of my life's best memories. I have no doubt these boys will be able to say the same decades from now when they look back on this adventure.
