Map Shows Missouri’s Epic 430-Mile Ozark Trail

It might be the greatest Missouri adventure of them all if you're tough enough to handle it. Did you know there's a vast hiking trail that crosses some of the most scenic areas of Missouri? A new map shows many different parts of what is known as the Ozark Trail.

I love hiking, but have a hard time finding any time to actually get outside and do it thanks to my busy life. Perhaps you can identify with that situation. I just came across something that has inspired me to try a little bit harder to get my durable shoes on and head outside. Someone on the Missouri sub-Reddit just shared a map of the Ozark Trail.

The United States Forest Service has a breakdown of the different trails that are connected that make up the Ozark Trail in Missouri:

• Courtois - 48 miles
• Trace Creek - 26 miles
• Middle Fork - 24 miles
• Karkaghne - 29 miles
• Blair Creek - 27 miles
• Current River - 30 miles
• Between the Rivers - 29 miles
• Eleven Point - 29 miles

The project isn't complete as there are 5 hiking trails that are not connected for thru hiking:

• Marble Creek - 9 miles
• North Fork - 27 miles
• Taum Sauk - 35 miles
• Victory - 19 miles
• Wappapello - 35 miles

There are around 430 total miles of trails when you include that parts that aren't connected. All together, these trails feature the most beautiful parts of Missouri. Streams, waterfalls, mountain hills and springs are all sights you'll see there. Once a complete thru hike is possible, this Ozark Trail could become one of the more desirable in the Midwest. Even now it's worth the time to hike a section if you have the opportunity. It should inspire more of us to get those shoes on and make time for the best nature Missouri has to offer.
