Did You Know Women in Missouri are Forbidden from Wearing This?
Slowly but surely society is coming around to be kinder to women. Sometimes. This isn't an example of that. Did you know there is one undergarment that women in Missouri are apparently not allowed to wear? I have confirmed this is true, but strange.
I want to be clear that I did not go searching for this information on my own. (Editor's Note: yeah, right) I stumbled upon an article about strange lingerie laws. There's no easy way to say this, so I'm just gonna say it.
It's true. The strange lingerie article says (and I quote):
In Maryville, Missouri, women are prohibited from wearing corsets, because “the privilege of admiring the curvaceous, unencumbered body of a young woman should not be denied to the normal, red-blooded American male.'”
It sounds like someone is lonely and making laws they shouldn't make. By the way, I confirmed this strange anti-corset law in Missouri through an article on MSN also.
Here's what I think is really going on. This is one of those laws passed in 1872 that ended up on the books and everyone forgot about it and politicians didn't figure it was worth their time to remove it. Surely that's the case or let's hope.
So many thoughts (Editor's Note: please don't say it). I say ladies in Missouri should wear corsets in protest just to prove they can. You go be the best version of you and if that includes a corset, you go girl. (Editor's Note: *face palm*).
