Are These Really the 10 Trashiest Cities in Missouri? Possibly

Trashy is such a harsh word. I could also argue that it can be a good word depending on your attitude. That being said, I've found multiple places that claim they know the 10 "trashiest" cities in Missouri. Let's see if you agree.

Let me state clearly that I thought Confederate Railroad's song "Trashy Women" was a fine piece of music. So when I say that these Missouri cities/towns have been named as the most "trashy", that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I decided it wouldn't be fair to rely on just one source for a list this important, so I've included several places including a new ranking by MoneyInc that named the worst places to live with an old-school article by Roadsnacks that called out the 10 trashiest Missouri places.

Let us begin...

10. Kennett, Missouri

The school system in Kennett is described as "challenged" and there's a really good chance you'll lose your hubcaps if you stop at one of their gas stations and/or motels long enough.

9. Lebanon, Missouri

On the bright side, there is some great fishing possible near Lebanon and...that's about it for the win column there. Roadsnacks mentions that 10% of the residents in Lebanon are single mothers which means deadbeat dads are likely running things.

8. Sullivan, Missouri

Sullivan is a "growing" place. Growing unemployment and crime rates that is sadly. The truth hurts.

7. Clinton, Missouri

When a town's name reminds you of Monica Lewinsky, you know you're off to a good start. Roadsnacks mentions that per capita, Clinton is a leader for most Dollar Stores. That's not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion, but I'm cheap.

6. DeSoto, Missouri

I have family that used to live in DeSoto and it used to be a nice place. The fact that almost 15% of the population are single moms isn't something they'll want to brag about now though. If St. Louis is Budweiser, DeSoto is Bud Light.

5. Venice, Missouri

But Venice sounds like such an elegant European name...yet it's just miles from St. Louis and has an unemployment rate just south of 20%. Even Joe Dirt would say "dang" to that stat.

4. Aurora, Missouri

What do you get when you have one of the highest dropout rates in Missouri? Answer - #4 on the most trashy towns list. Congrats, Aurora genius.

3. Warrenton, Missouri

While Warrenton is the home of at least one center for higher education (that's college), it also reportedly has a lot of check cashing and personal loan places which are highly disproportional to the population. That means whatever you earn there will cost you at least 30% interest.

2. Madison, Missouri

Madison, Missouri was declared the worst suburb of St. Louis. Let that fact sink in for a moment. I thought it was too far away to be considered a suburb, but apparently the "suck" factor is too high.

And the #1 most trashy city/town in Missouri is...(*drum roll*)

1. Branson, Missouri

And the winner by a long shot for trashiness comes courtesy of Branson, Missouri. When you've got giant apes climbing theaters on your main drag, you're gonna impress all of us with mullets. We blame you Wayne Newton.
