I saw this report first shared by KOMU out of Columbia. It says that beginning at sunrise on Saturday, October 7 until sunrise on Sunday, October 8, the capital dome will be lit with a bright shade of red light.

Why will the Missouri capital building be lit with red light?

The dome of the Missouri capital will be red this weekend in remembrance of all the firefighters in the state that have lost their lives in the line of duty. KOMU is also reporting there will be a memorial service on Sunday morning at 10:30 am at the capital to remember those who paid the ultimate price while trying to save lives.

There are also new names being added to the Wall of Honor in Kingdom City, Missouri to remember the fallen among the firefighting brotherhood.

If you travel to Jefferson City, Missouri this weekend and see the red capital dome, remember the reason why it is lit. It's because of heroes whose service and sacrifice must never be forgotten.
