The fact that someone just won money from the Missouri Lottery isn't news, but I did a double-take when I saw the location where the mystery winner found their new fortune - a Missouri state building cafeteria.

Do you or anyone you know work in the Harry S. Truman Building at 301 High Street in Jefferson City, Missouri?

According to the Missouri Lottery, someone stopped by the Harry's Place Cafeteria inside this big government building on May 23, 2026 and picked up a Powerball ticket that is now worth a cool $50,000. The winning numbers that day were 4-16-41-48-66 with a Powerball number of 26. Unfortunately, this new prize is listed on the Missouri Lottery Unclaimed Prizes page which means someone may not be aware that their lunch choice in Jefferson City that day has paid off big time.

How much would take home cash be from a $50,000 Missouri Lottery win?

Keep in mind that I'm not a lawyer or accountant and can barely balance my own bank account, but an online tax calculator says the approximate take home amount from a $50,000 Missouri Lottery tax win would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $36,000 once the tax men get their unfair fair share. That's still a very nice payday for someone. Is it you?
