Or, at least, begin a spirited discussion.

We are entering the time of year - NFL playoffs, Super Bowl, March Madness - that a lot of pizza will be consumed, and this is, in fact, National Pizza Week.

So, the question is - who has the area's best pizza - Hannibal or Quincy?

In looking around at rankings from the usual sources, TripAdvisor, Yelp and the like, I feel I should put a condition on the discussion.

Any list of the best pizza in most any community of any size is going to include the national franchises - Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Little Caesar's, Domino's, Casey's, Papa Murphy's, etc. You'll find all of these in Quincy and Hannibal, and they're all good.

This discussion is more about pizza places that are locally owned and operated.

Those local pizza joints that are considered to be the best include, with reviews:

Hannibal

Brick Oven - "We tried Romano pizza and Sicilian spaghetti. Ohh boy, the best Italian taste to my palate for the time immemorial. The pizza had freshest taste of Romano sauce, capers, asiago, and cheese. A crust and best baked. The have wood fired oven."

Palermo's - "Was very good. Owners stayed open a little longer to take care of us as we were passing through Hannibal. Very good pizza loaded with toppings. Thanks!"

Quincy
