Where’s the Best Pie in Missouri? Maybe Just South of St. Louis

Ever wake up and your mind immediately starts thinking of pie? That was my dilemma today which led me on a quest to determine who makes the best pie in Missouri. What did I find? It's possible the location is a small shop just south of St. Louis.

My pie quest first led me to the Visit Missouri tourism site. I figured if anyone would know where the best pie makers are, it would be them. I was correct. #1 on their list is the Blue Owl Restaurant and Bakery in Kimmswick, Missouri. That's about 20 minutes south of St. Louis, by the way. Just look at this massive creation of crust and goodness. This is known as the "levee-high pie". Awesomeness.

If you look at the Blue Owl website, you'll immediately see about a dozen pies of different varieties. If you look at the shop, it's very unassuming on the exterior.

It gets even better. Sure. You can visit The Blue Owl Bakery at 6116 2nd Street in Kimmswick, Missouri, but they also ship anywhere. If I was expecting a delivery of this kind of pie, I'd likely be staring out the window for the Fed Ex or UPS truck like a dog anxiously awaiting for its owner to come home.

Is this truly the best pie in Missouri? There's only one way to find out. Excuse me while I grab a fork and my car keys.
