What's the true definition of a hidden attraction? When you have an attraction in a state where someone was born yet they know nothing about it. That's the case with Boathenge, truly the strangest hidden attraction in Missouri that I've never heard of.

Congrats to Only In Your State for discovering something in Missouri that had eluded me even though I was born (admittedly a very long time ago) in the Show Me State. Boathenge was just named by them as the #1 hidden attraction in Missouri and there isn't even a close second.

What the heck is Boathenge?

It's a collection of boats (think Stonehenge but with boats) that were allegedly stuck in the ground by mysterious boaters sometime after the great flood of 93 near Columbia, Missouri. The official Boathenge website confirms that the boats took their rightful place in the soil between 1993 and 1995.

I've seen theories that Stonehenge in England provides a mystical power from its likely Druid origins. What strange powers will you end up with if you visit Boathenge? Perhaps an invincible mullet? We can only hope.

The Boathenge website infers that there was some advanced math involved in the placing of the boats. (y = mx + b). The boats average 13 feet in height and are 6 feet wide and 3 feet deep...just like Stonehenge...ohhh. The total diameter is 108 feet.

If you'd like to see if this mystery is true, you can visit Boathenge yourself. It's located next to the Missouri River next to the Katy Trail. If you end up with superpowers, please let me know.
