It's 18 miles of Missouri bliss, but it's one of the hikes in the Show Me State that is too often overlooked even though it offers absolutely stunning views.

The hiking area in question is Busiek State Forest and Wildlife Area located about 18 miles south of Springfield, Missouri. Words don't do it justice. Videos can sometimes however.

Of note, there are bears that call this Missouri forest home. Just like the sign at the beginning of the trailhead says.

Is it worth possibly running into a bear? Actually, I would say yes. Not only can you hike on this trail, but there's also room for your horse if you so desire according to the Missouri Department of Conservation website.

While it's not likely you've ever heard of the Busiek State Forest and Wildlife Area, it has almost 3,000 reviews on All Trails and averages nearly a perfect 4.5 out of 5 stars by reviewers. That is why I consider it a hiking option in Missouri that gets overlooked far too often.

No doubt it's not a short trip to 18 miles south of Springfield, Missouri, but this trail would be worth putting on your list next time you travel to Branson and want an outdoors option while you're there. It's worth not overlooking.
