It's almost the time of year when this type of sighting will be much more common. New video just shared shows what some call 'an 8-legged freak' crossing the road near Bull Shoals Lake in Missouri.

About a month ago, I shared details of how the time of year when male Texas Brown Tarantulas will regularly be seen spotted as they seek female companionship. This video was just shared on the Missouri sub-Reddit showing one of these big guys trying to get an early jump on the love search apparently.

Texas Brown Tarantula seen near Bull Shoals Lake

By the time August rolls around, don't be surprised if you see hordes of these Texas Brown Tarantulas crossing the road at the same time.

But won't this terrifyingly big spider bite me?

Even though a certain John Goodman movie would have you believe that the Texas Brown Tarantulas are out to get you, the truth is the opposite. The Missouri Department of Conservation mentions that these big spiders are very shy and can actually be held while you feed them crickets. I'll take their word for that and will take a hard pass at testing that theory. Thanks.

By the way, the same migration of Texas Brown Tarantulas that happens every year in southern Missouri also takes place in southern Colorado and this is what it looks like.

The sighting of a Texas Brown Tarantula near Bull Shoals Lake this early is interesting. Expect these sightings to increase exponentially in the coming weeks.
