
Brown Recluse or Impostor? Missouri’s Creepy Debate
I really want no part of this, but can't help myself. There's a raging debate over a spider picture that's been shared in Missouri and the question is whether it's really a deadly brown recluse or not. I know the answer.
This picture question was just shared on the Missouri sub-Reddit this week. It's a person who lives in Fenton who spotted an arachnid creeping around behind a calendar. Watch (if you dare) and see what you think.

How can you tell if you're dealing with a real brown recluse?
The Missouri Department of Conservation will tell you that the dead giveaway that the 8-legged fiend you're dealing with is a brown recluse if "there is a violin-shaped patch" on the head. I can tell you for a fact that this person in Fenton has a brown recluse behind their calendar. I was doing repairs in my Missouri home about a decade ago and saw a stack of small boards in the corner of my basement. I had almost like a sixth sense kick in that something was lurking under the wood and went over and kicked it. Sure enough, a brown recluse emerged and made a bee line toward me (ticked that I messed up his board house) and I won't spoil it for you, but it didn't end well for the spider. (Sorry not sorry, PETA)
I had a friend in Missouri who was bitten by one of these villains and he had necrosis create a huge hole in his arm that took months to heal. They're vile spiders and I eliminate them on sight no matter what good they do our ecosystem. It's me or the spiders and I'm still breathing, so...
