Even dog names can be a popularity contest. Take for example a brand new list showing the most popular canine names in Missouri for 2023. The top dog (literally) name means "beautiful" because of course it does.

Baby names are a very trendy thing. What was fashionable to name a child in the early 20th century sounds kind of odd now. That will likely be true in the future as there's a somewhat surprising new favorite baby name for girls in Missouri.

I've never claimed to be sophisticated which is probably why I'm more than a little surprised at the top 10 baby names for Missouri that was just released. Many of the most popular are based in literature although there's one that has a definite tie to the Wild West.

I was driving last weekend and came across a beauty salon sign with the name of “Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow.”  There are some great salon names out there in Mid-America. It got me to thinking of just how many beauty salons there are and even more interesting are the names of those salons.
