It would be a good idea to prepare now if you live in certain parts of Illinois as an incoming storm system is expected to bring snow and wind and will mean treacherous driving for many.

There are several meteorologists and storm chasers already discussing this, but for the sake of simplicity, I'll just reference One Nation Weather on YouTube. They just dropped an outlook which says that the northeastern part of Illinois is in for a potential driving adventure beginning Thursday, November 21.

Here's the low pressure system that will be bringing the first taste of snow to parts of Illinois and where it's expected to be located Thursday morning. By the time the Thursday evening commute happens, it could be less than ideal for the parts of Illinois this storm impacts.

The expectation is that there could be lake effect snow that turns this into a bigger travel issue than previously expected with anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow in some parts of Illinois between Thursday and the weekend.

While most parts of Illinois will only see an inch or two of snow, it's the big winds that will make visibility a bear as it's falling and some areas in Illinois closest to the Great Lakes could see 3 to 6 inches of snow.

I highly recommend watching his brief explanation of what the current computer models are saying is possible. Important Note: All of this will depend on where that low pressure situates itself. It could be more. It could be less, but this looks like the way the system will play out as of now.
