Know now that weather in Illinois will be tricky and somewhat unpredictable on Wednesday. Much of the state will experience wildly varying weather with many places being impacted by snow squalls and some thunder snow, too.

Illinois Weather on Facebook nailed a good summary of what you should be aware of if you live in or will be traveling through or around Illinois on Wednesday.

I don't want to be overdramatic about this. Let's emphasize that the places that see snow squalls and/or thunder snow will be extremely isolated and scattered. This is NOT expected to be a big snow event. What it IS likely to be is a day when limited visibility could happen with very little notice.

Overall, there should be no more than an inch or maybe up to an inch and a half of snow in some places. Some parts of Illinois will see very little wintry weather. Just know that you need to be aware that visibility could be very limited for short periods of time as this system makes its way across the state Wednesday.

As they mentioned above, the chance for the snow squalls will vary from place to place in Illinois, but generally speaking it will begin in the morning and continue through the middle of the afternoon.
