Six Flags has gone through many changes over the years with the most recent being a sale to a new owner this year. However, if you're old enough to remember, Six Flags St. Louis used to be a completely different place decades ago and that includes the famous dolphin show that was shut down in 1996.

Six Flags St. Louis shared this retro video on their anniversary many years ago. It was captured in the mid-1970's. I believe a majority of this video was filmed in 1976 right after the Screamin' Eagle made its debut on April 10, 1976. It was back in that era when the dolphin show was held in this huge arena.

Do you remember the dolphin show called "Fins and Flippers" which was a popular part of the park until it was discontinued in 1996. Everyone sitting close to the dolphins tank would leave Six Flags completely soaked. Guaranteed. I have seen many who have shared pictures from that dolphin show on social media.

I recall that Six Flags St. Louis had the mascot entertainers all over the park which became less of a thing as the decades passed. This was also before the metal coasters became prominent. Back in those days, it was the Screamin' Eagle and the train coaster which got the most attention. The log ride has always been a popular part of Six Flags.

As we shared back in March, Six Flags St. Louis has been sold to new owners who promise to make the park better. I sure hope they can find a way to make it profitable so they can survive for decades more. Some of my best childhood memories were made there and I hope the younger generation now can make their own in the future, too. Maybe bring back the dolphins, Six Flags St. Louis?
