Secure the Trampoline – Missouri & Illinois Could See 50 MPH Wind
If you have any loose objects in the yard, you might want to tie them down. Both Missouri and Illinois are under wind advisories with gusts of up to 50 mph expected.
The National Weather Service says that this high wind event is expected to begin as early as 6am on Tuesday morning, February 14, 2023. Happy Valentine's Day. They say the areas under this wind advisory include the following:
Portions of south central, southwest, and west central
Illinois. Portions of central, east central, northeast, and
southeast Missouri
While consistent wind is expected to be between 15 and 25 mph during the day on Tuesday and Tuesday night, there could be gusts up to 50 mph. Batten down the hatches, mate.
For reference, the Beaufort Wind Scale says that 50 mph winds are strong enough to blow shingles off of roofs. You can also expect plenty of white caps on the Mississippi River.
The National Weather Service includes this other fun possibility saying "gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects...tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result." Happy Valentine's Day again. Be careful with those umbrellas, Missouri and Illinois.
