Quincy Public Library to Hold Antique Appraisals
Quincy Public Library will present author and antiques expert Mark F. Moran on Wednesday, August 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is now open for those who would like to bring an item to be appraised.
Moran has previously appeared on Antiques Roadshow on PBS and is the author of more than 25 books on antiques. He has bought and sold antiques for more than 30 years, specializing in vintage folk art, Americana, and fine art. This is his fourth year to appear at Quincy Public Library.
There are two ways to participate in this event. One is to bring an item to be valued, or the second is by watching the live appraisals.
Space for appraisals is limited and advance registration is required. Individuals may register up to two items for appraisal. One item will be appraised at no charge for current Q.P.L. cardholders. The fee to appraise a second item is $15. Those who do not hold a Q.P.L. card will be assessed a $15 fee for each item appraised (limit two.)
Moran cautions that opinions of value are informal, and may not be used for insurance or charitable donations, which require a certified appraisal.
The live appraisal event is exciting to watch as items are presented, researched, described and appraised. Reservations are not needed to watch the appraisal and all are welcome.
Moran is available to make home visits for people with large or fragile items or large quantities of items. House calls are $75 per hour, with no mileage charge if within 10 miles of Q.P.L. Appointments for house calls should be made directly with Mr. Moran at 715-281-5060 or by email at moranm1953@gmail.com.
Advance reservations are required for appraisals. Reserve your space by calling Ruth at Quincy Public Library at 223-1309, ext. 209.
