The Quincy Public Library is encouraging patrons to read, investigate, and discover with their Dig Deeper summer reading program for all ages. This year the library is launching a new feature that allows patrons to log reading and activities online or through a mobile app with Beanstack. Patrons can visit quincylibrary.beanstack.com or download the Beanstack Tracker App and search for Quincy Public Library to get started.

Each person who completes the challenge by August 7 will be awarded a special prize and entries for drawings for prize baskets. Children can also enter to win one of four Trek bicycles donated by the Bodley Lodge Masons. Books logged for summer reading may also be counted toward the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

Studies have shown that children who participate in summer reading programs score higher on reading and math achievement tests when they return to school.

In addition to the reading challenge, Q.P.L. will also start offering in-person activities and events starting on July 6. For a full list of events, or to sign up, visit quincylibrary.org or call the library at 217-223-1309.

The library will offer later hours starting on July 6. They will be open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
