NOAA is Predicting a Warm & Dry Fall for Missouri & Illinois
If the weather experts are correct, both Missouri and Illinois are in for a warmer and dryer Fall than usual.
Keep in mind that these are only predictions. That being said, this information is coming from the weather geniuses at NOAA who spend every waking hour analyzing data to determine what our weather future holds. Their Climate Prediction Center has just shared their forecast for Fall and it looks very dry and warm for both Missouri and Illinois. This is the map for expected temperatures.
The prediction map for precipitation expected is not good news for the many parts of Missouri and Illinois that are experiencing ongoing drought conditions.
Ozarks First shared a story saying that this condition is due to La Niña impacts. The discussion by NOAA of September specifically backs up that report.
If you're interested in a look further down the weather road, NOAA has an experimental long lead forecast which seems to show the above average temps won't last very far into the winter.
Will this dryer and warmer Fall play out like NOAA is predicting? Only time will tell although I still refer to what my dad told me when I was a kid. "If you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes". That will almost certainly end up being true.
