Beware, Friday the 13th Twisters Possible in Missouri & Illinois
I'm not predicting that Friday the 13th will be full of unlucky happenings, but you need to know that our part of Missouri and Illinois is in the area of the highest probability of tornadoes according to meteorologists.
The National Weather Service out of St. Louis just shared this entertaining graphic with a mention of something you should be aware of for Friday the 13th in both northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois.
It's worth mentioning that NOAA's Storm Prediction Center agrees. Their convective outlook shows that northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois are in the crosshairs of possible storm development for Friday the 13th. (*cue ominous music*)
Tornadoes in Missouri and Illinois in October are not that unusual. You might recall the violent twisters that went through the Purdy, Missouri area a few Octobers ago.
Based on discussions I've heard about from the NWS meteorologists, I don't think we'll see anything really crazy happen, but it's worth paying attention to. Once storms start to pop up, hard to tell how intense they might be.
