Missouri Women Warned of Text Message That Will Rob Them Blind
It's bad enough that perpetrators are trying to rob people, but it's even worse that they're preying on the lonely. There are new warnings for women in Missouri of a text message scam that is meant to break their hearts and rob them blind, too.
Have you heard of the wrong number text message scam? The FBI is warning that these attempts to build a relationship with Missouri women and then rob them are on the rise.
Here's how it works. The villains begin with what appears to be a personal message in the hopes that you'll respond that you're not the person they're trying to reach.
Once they get you engaged in the conversation, they'll try to build a fake friendship that will eventually lead them to a point where they'll ask if you want to join them in a cryptocurrency investment or any other number of schemes. They all result in you losing money and possibly have your heart broken in the process when you realize that your new "friend" is really just a robber.
This happened in Missouri not that long ago when one of these people sent a text, but it went to a Missouri police officer who sent them a photo they'll likely never forget.
Another attempt was made to a St. Louis, Missouri woman this year with the wrong number technique as reported by KMOV.
These instances are on the rise in Missouri so be sure to hide your heart (and your bank account) from strangers.
