I don't know if I'll ever get to live out this dream, but I'd love to one day settle down and live in a Missouri lake town. I've been fortunate to go on vacations in a few, but how would you like to have a home in one of those places where every day feels like a weekend getaway?

If you look at tourism sites like Visit Missouri, you'll see some incredible lake town destinations. Here are a few where it's possible to live there if you can afford the type of investment it takes.

I think that many overlook places like Monroe City, Stockton and Warsaw. There are many great lake towns in Missouri that are not located near Lake of the Ozarks and the cost of living isn't bad there either. Especially with Monroe City, you have Mark Twain Lake practically in your backyard and it doesn't have the crazy amount of commercial development like you'll find around some of the southern Missouri lake towns.
