I find it ironic that many of those who love Missouri's great rivers also loathe snakes when the truth is they go together like peanut butter and jelly. That's why it's one of the least shocking things ever that Missouri has just been "honored" as having 2 of the most snake-filled rivers in America.

This just in - Missouri's rivers are full of snakes - lots and lots of slithering reptiles

I sometimes get mistaken as a news journalist which I certainly am not. That's why I don't mind sharing this new fact just shared by World Atlas which has declared Missouri the home of the 2 most snake-filled rivers in America - the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. I understand that Missouri has to share both rivers with numerous other states, but I don't consider that they count since they aren't Missouri.

Simple math explains why the two rivers that traverse past and through Missouri would be the most snake-filled. Both the Mississippi River and Missouri River are around 2,340 miles long. Considering how much snakes enjoy warmer weather, I'd bet my bottom dollar that Louisiana and Florida probably have a more concentrated snake population than Missouri since neither has much winter to deal with, but that's just me guessing. The Rio Grande and Brazos Rivers in Texas and New Mexico have their fair share of snakes, too. Let's face it. It's a snake's world and the rest of us are simply living in it.
