Puppy mills are a problem nationwide, but especially in Missouri it seems. There's a new video shared by a Missouri shelter of the miniature poodles they just saved from a puppy mill in the Show Me State.

There's a reason why this video from the Great Plains SPCA in Missouri has gone viral on TikTok. It's the story they just shared of the 5 miniature poodles they just rescued.

@greatplainsspca Yesterday our team rescued 5 miniature poodles from one of the worst puppy mills in Missouri. @MissionDriven #greatplainsspca #fyp #adoptdontshop #puppymillsurvivor #puppy #minaturepoodle #puppymillrescue #puppymillawareness ♬ Chopin Nocturne No. 2 Piano Mono - moshimo sound design

I saw this story shared by Yahoo Life which explained that Missouri is believed to have the most puppy mills in America. The 5 miniature poodles rescued by the Great Plains SPCA are now getting the medical attention they need to be nursed back to health, but many comments on TikTok asked the question that many are likely wondering. What about the other dogs at the puppy mill? That leads to the bigger question of what can be done to make sure that dogs like the ones rescued don't suffer from the same circumstance.

Earlier this year, the Springfield News-Leader reported that Missouri was listed as the #1 state for puppy mills for the 10th year-in-a-row in 2022. That fact helps you understand that while 5 puppies being rescued is a good thing, it's not even close to being a solution for the much bigger problem that sadly continues to thrive in Missouri.
