It's easy to let your imagination run wild when you're alone in the woods. But, what one Missouri man saw has also been seen by others. When he saw a giant shadow, he was terrified when he realized it had eight legs.

This story was shared with a channel on YouTube by a man named Adam who was on a fishing trip in Missouri near Joplin. As he tells it, the encounter happened when he was younger. He was adventuring in the backwoods which consisted of around 150 acres near his home.

He stopped in his tracks when he saw a large web. It wasn't a combination of many webs like you sometimes see in the Missouri woods. It was one massive web which had its center near a large hole in a tree.

He suddenly saw a shadow that he could not identify coming out of the hole. It looked much too large to be a spider as he estimates it was the size of his head. Adam thought his eyes were playing tricks on him until he got a little closer and saw that the massive shadow had EIGHT legs.

Adam's experience was not unique. A man in the comments added his own story:

Dick Diamonds - "I've lived in rural Missouri my whole life. I believe it. We have tarantulas. We have mountain lions that people say aren't here. There's no telling whats out in the Ozarks"

Multiple commenters shared similar tales. All swear that they're not seeing wolf spiders or tarantulas which are common to much of Missouri. It's...something else.

So next time you're walking next to a tree in the woods with a large hole in the trunk, beware what might be lurking within.
