Beware, Missouri Highway Patrol Will Soon Have ‘Ghost Vehicles’
They haven't even been deployed, but they're already wildly controversial. The Missouri State Highway Patrol will soon have 'ghost vehicles' and residents are torn over whether this is a good idea or not.
I'll let the Missouri State Highway Patrol speak for itself as they announced these new vehicles incoming on their Facebook page today.
During the daytime, they will look like relatively common black vehicles, but at nighttime, the graphics will reflect the lights and look like this.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol say this will help them better detect dangerous drivers, but some claim this will be the equivalent of entrapment. One commenter on their Facebook page brought up a valid point saying that they might flee what they think is a kidnapper or human trafficker instead of knowing it's a valid Missouri law enforcement vehicle. As a rule follower, I don't care if the highway patrol uses these "ghost vehicles" or not. I'd rather they catch those who are driving dangerously than to have to announce their presence loudly with bright colors. However, I do understand why some people are concerned that this will be an unnecessary stealth mechanism that could confuse people.
One way or another, the 'ghost vehicles' in Missouri are coming whether you like it or not. The admittedly immature part of me thinks it's cool that the new vehicles look a little like the Batmobile.
