If you saw flashing lights recently on I-57 in Illinois, there's a good reason for that. Illinois State Police recently completed a crackdown on that interstate which resulted in more than 2,800 violations discovered in just a 3-day period.

Illinois State Police Troop 10 has been busy lately. Their Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau just completed its South Region June Blitz from June 9 through June 11. Their update on social media says they found literally thousands of motorists in violation of either state and/or federal regulations.

If you read the comments on the Illinois State Police social media share, you'll see many complaining that it was just a "cash grab", etc. But, there are many inspections that will uncover problems with a vehicle that the driver was unaware of that could be extremely dangerous if it were to fail while in motion. Last time I checked, I'm not a mind-reader, so I won't presume to know the intentions of the Illinois State Police, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Those that were the recipients of the tickets during this 3-day crackdown don't seem to be quite so sympathetic and I don't blame them.
