There's a new rundown of where flu and sickness are happening in America and, in many places, it's spreading like wildfire. The exception? Missouri.

This is so ironic. My family has been sicker than a sick dog for the past week and we live in Missouri. We are apparently the minority as the CDC has just shared a map showing their "Influenza Surveillance" and look at the one innocent state in the middle of all that flu.

I don't doubt it's accurate, but it doesn't feel accurate. Other than West Virginia, the Dakotas, Wyoming and Montana, no place in America is healthier than Missouri. How odd. I was at the grocery store not that many days ago and the line waiting to pick up prescriptions was long. I realize that my store observations aren't scientific, but it seems like Missouri is sicker than it's letting on.

Perhaps there's something else going on here. One of the traits of Missourians I've grown up with is we tend to work through sickness and tough it out. I also practically never go to a doctor. Is it possible that the reason why Missouri "appears" so healthy is that we're really very sick, but just don't want to talk about it?
