Gas Prices Soar in the Middle and Western Parts of Missouri
Riddle me this, Batman. Why are the highest gas prices in Missouri in the middle and the western parts of the state? The truth is they appear to be soaring in the center of Missouri as we inch closer to the Memorial Day weekend.
What is the average gas price in Missouri right now?
Missouri's average as of this writing is $2.82. The best tool I've been able to find comes from AAA which monitors gas prices across Missouri. Their newest gas price map for the state shows something peculiar. If you look at Howard, Callaway, Cole and especially Boone County, you'll see average prices in those counties that are not far from $3.00 per gallon.
The highest gas prices as of now are in the extreme western parts of Missouri in the Kansas City region with Henry county being the most expensive place to gas up in the state right now.
You would think that the southwestern part of Missouri would have among the highest gas prices considering how many tourists are drawn to that part of the state during the warm weather months, but the opposite is true. That's where some of the cheapest gas in Missouri is at the moment.
Will gas prices rise soon?
The general consensus is that gas prices will soon begin their seasonal rise. You also have to consider that a wild card event like a military strike on Iran could cause a sudden jolt in gas prices, too. Deciding where and when to gas up is like playing the stock market. You just hope you can buy low at the right time.
