Many of us are accustomed to receiving storm warnings from the National Weather Service, but there's a new way to find out when bad weather is coming. Listen to the chatter of storm chasers, many of whom are saying that Missouri has a serious threat of tornadoes late this next week.

I saw this post on Facebook yesterday from Reed Timmer who is one of the more famous storm chasers thanks to his part in the reality TV series Tornado Chasers. He's warning about a tornado outbreak that he says might peak above Missouri.

Reed is not the only weather guy pointing toward potential severe weather over Missouri this week. Midwest Weather shared a concerning graphic, too.

Matthew Cappucci also says that eastern Missouri especially should keep tabs on potential storm development.

SEMO Weather with AJ is also eyeing what computer models are showing right now for the southern half of Missouri.

I am always concerned about storm chasers sensationalizing developing weather since that's how they make their living, but I do respect their knowledge about storms. Plus many have a good gut instinct about when there's really trouble brewing in the skies above us. Would I change my plans based on what storm chasers think the weather will do? No way, but I would make sure that I'm weather aware on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16. There's too much chatter in the storm chasing community for nothing to be happening. Expect to see many of them in Missouri in just a few days.
