The methodology considers two key factors: the percentage of adults within a metropolitan area who do not exercise during their leisure time and the proportion of the population lacking reasonable access to locations for physical activity.

Eleven of the top 15 laziest states are in the South, while Colorado stands out as a beacon of activity, with its residents consistently topping the charts for exercise levels. States like Mississippi and Arkansas claim the unfortunate distinction of having the highest percentages of adults who engage in no physical activity whatsoever, each surpassing 30%.
