Alert – Ice Danger Increasing for Missouri & Illinois Monday

We already know that Monday morning could see icy conditions in most of Missouri and Illinois. But, now new models show that danger is increasing greatly with up to a half inch possible in some places according to the National Weather Service.

As I shared a day ago, both Missouri and Illinois are forecast to see ice Monday morning. The National Weather Service confirmed that ice is almost a certainty during the morning commute Monday.

New computer models show this ice danger is definitely increasing. Notice on this computer model shared by Pivotal Weather that there are places near St. Louis that could see up to a half inch of ice.

The Weather Channel also said they expect much of Missouri and Illinois to be greatly affected by ice Monday morning.

Storm chasing groups also alerting everyone to the Monday ice danger.

What does this mean for Missouri and Illinois Monday?

If you have the ability to delay travel until late Monday morning or early afternoon, that's preferable as there will be some level of ice on almost all roads while temperatures at the surface remain cold enough to freeze rain that is expected to fall.

The good news is temperatures will rise Monday and this will be a short-lived event. However, it is now potentially even more dangerous for drivers especially if only for a short amount of time.
