According to the Associated Press, Arkansas has become the first state to order Chinese companies to sell off the land they own inside of the state. In an article in the AP, they say...

"Arkansas on Tuesday ordered the subsidiary of a Chinese-owned company to divest itself of 160 acres (774,400 square yards) of agricultural land, the first such action under a wave of new laws across the country restricting foreign ownership of farmland...Northrup is a subsidiary of Syngenta Seeds, which is owned by China National Chemical Company, or ChemChina, a Chinese state-owned company."

One of the big takeaways from this article if you are a Missourian is that this is being called the "first action" not the last, or the only. The article states that more and more states are making laws restricting ownership of land in their state from foreign countries and businesses owned by foreign countries.

So is Missouri next? It makes logical sense that Missouri would follow in the footsteps of Arkansas and be part of this next wave of action states took to try to force these companies to sell off their land. I would say that there is nothing wrong with wanting land in our country to be owned by only businesses within our country, or by citizens of our country, and no one else. Where do you fall on this issue?
