Farmer’s Almanacs Strongly Disagree on Missouri’s Winter
Don't you think it's a bit early to be predicting what's going to happen during the upcoming winter when we haven't officially started Fall yet? That's not stopping both Farmer's Almanacs who have issued their winter outlooks which completely disagree about what's in store for Missouri.
Did you know there are two different Farmer's Almanacs?
There is the Old Farmer's Almanac and the New Farmer's Almanac, but I think the new one just calls itself Farmer's Almanac now. I don't know why they're separate, but I'm guessing there were lawyers involved. That's neither here nor there, but my point is there are two completely different Farmer's Almanacs with differing methods of forecasting weather.
What did the New Farmer's Almanac say about winter 2025/2026 for Missouri?
Their catchphrase was "chill, snow repeat" and they declared that Missouri's winter would be very cold and snowy.
What does the Old Farmer's Almanac now say about Missouri's 2025/2026 winter?
The short answer is completely the opposite of what the new one said. Their forecast for the upcoming winter season in Missouri is that there will be "less shoveling overall", but they also added that late January would feature "a winter punch". I really don't like the sound of that, but they do say Missouri can expect a rather mild and dry winter with shorter cold snaps. In this scenario, I vote for embracing the Old Farmer's Almanac since I am not a snow or shoveling person. Which one is correct? There's only one thing I'm certain of. One of the Farmer's Almanacs is right and the other is wrong. We'll find out soon enough which is which.
