Many hope to start a new year with goals and resolutions. Unfortunately, for hundreds in Illinois the start of the new year in 2025 will mean they will be without jobs.

I saw the Des Moines Register share earlier today that another round of layoffs are impacting Illinois - again. There are job losses now and also into the new year as 287 were laid off by John Deere in the Quad Cities.

There are now 200 others that work at Harvester Works in East Moline, Illinois that will lose their jobs effective January 3, 2025 according to the report.

The story says that John Deere is not relocating the jobs elsewhere, but it's due to the slowing farm economy and crop prices which have fallen. Soy, corn and wheat prices are down drastically.

KWQC has the complete statement from John Deere concerning these current and soon-to-be layoffs on their website.
