The Moment That a Missouri Battery Recycling Plant Exploded
Yesterday afternoon (October 30th) in Fredricktown, Missouri a fire at the lithium-ion battery recycling plant Critical Mineral Recovery exploded causing evacuations for nearby residents.
The Fredricktown Fire Dept told residents via an online message to shelter in place, close their windows And turn off their air conditioning units, many business’ were temporarily closed as a precaution while others near the blast were encouraged to evacuate due to the heavy smoke.
The cause of the initial fire that led to the explosion is still unclear and the Missouri Dept. of natural Resources is conducting tests.
This morning the smoke was still rising even though crews had quelled the fire. Smoke still hanging over the area was a concern for many, but schools are in session today ion Fredricktown, Mo.
Luckily, as of now no one is missing and no injuries have been reported.
