Tragic Loss: Emu Killed by Hail in Missouri Zoo

It was another day of severe thunderstorms that impacted parts of southern Missouri and it brought about an unexpected casualty. A 21-year-old emu was killed by a large hailstone inside of a Missouri zoo.

The Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, Missouri shared this sad news just a couple of hours ago regarding a casualty from a violent hailstorm Tuesday morning.

They said that the zoo had sustained significant damage from the storm including the following detail about two of their animals:

"Zoo staff is sad to report the death of one animal: a 21-year-old female emu. A male rhea is under veterinary care at this time."
