You know it will happen eventually and there's a chance this could be it. Sooner or later, Illinois will see measurable snowfall and a new computer model run now shows it really could happen within a week.

There are several weather content creators on YouTube that are now talking about this, but I'll focus on what Direct Weather just shared. While I recommend watching his full explanation in the video below, here's the short version of what is being predicted now.

A word of warning first, though. This is still a week away and a LOT could change which could make this prediction for Illinois change also.

There is a storm system that will be moving across the Midwest beginning in the middle of next week. By Thursday, November 21, the computer model shows that some snow could be impacting Illinois. The darker the blue, the more snow that's expected.

While my wife is a meteorologist, I am not and have not claimed any of her weather expertise. Watch the Direct Weather explanation for backstory on why this system could bring the first meaningful snowfall of the season to Illinois.

For the record, Direct Weather is just one of many online sources talking about the possibility of snow next week.
