Sign the kids up for some Home Run Derby fun this July in Quincy!

I can not tell you how many times my little brother and I would go out to the backyard of the house I grew up in, in Crystal Lake, Illinois with a bat and a baseball to imitate our favorite players and do a home run derby. We would spend hours perfecting the swings of Sammy Sosa, Ken Griffy Jr. and Barry Bonds, and we never had the opportunity to actually swing for the fences in a home run derby competition, but thanks to the Quincy Park District your kids can!

The Quincy Park District is hosting a "Home Run Derby" on Saturday, July 11th from 8 am to 1 pm at Upper Moorman Park. It is a completely free event for the community and is open to kids of all ages! There will be social distancing guidelines in place to make sure there isn't too many people gathering at once, so the Quincy Park District is requiring anyone who would like to participate to sign up for a time slot. You can sign up for a time slot by clicking here! You have until an hour before the event starts on July 11th to get your kid registered for the Home Run Derby.

I stand by the fact that Sammy Sosa had the greatest home run swing and batting stance ever, now whether or not he was clean that's a whooollllleeee other discussion, I think it is really cool for the Quincy Park District to bring an event like this for kids to have some fun with Baseball this Summer, now if we could only get the MLB back playing games.
