Last Friday night I was in attendance at the Community Cancer Crush event at The Ambiance in Quincy. It is a major fundraiser to assist people who are dealing with cancer and was begun after Luke Tappe lost his father, Ted Tappe to cancer. The event has now raised over a quarter million dollars since Ted's passing. During the evening, there was a video presentation featuring several people and it included a picture of Ted in his last days with Luke by his side. We have all asked, “Where has the time gone?" It seems like the older one gets, the faster it goes by. The seasons seem to change rapidly anymore. But with time, comes change. People come and people go. It’s the people who go that hurt the most. Ted Tappe was one of those people.

Ted passed away on April 13, 2014 after his long battle with Cancer. Ted was a good man, a good father, a wonderful musician and a friend to many and I was glad to be one of them.

I would always see him working the Blues in the District on those wonderful selected Friday nights. He would handle the sound board next to the stage. I'd stop by those Friday nights and say hello. I miss seeing his smiling face and talking to him last few years at the Blues in the District.

When that event starts up again in June, I will glance over to the sound board area and think about how God took a great guy and about how good the music must sound up there in Heaven with him at the control board or playing the guitar which Ted was pretty darn good at as well.

Teddy may be gone but he is certainly not forgotten. Luke will make sure that never happens. Even in Ted's passing, many people are benefiting thanks to Luke. Great job with the Cancer Crush Luke, Teddy would be proud of you!
