Come to Missouri this weekend, cast a line, catch some fish and enjoy a day at the waterside for free.  Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9, the Missouri Department of Conservation is offering its annual Free Fishing Day. It doesn't matter if you're a Missouri resident, any person can fish state waters over the weekend without buying a permit.

The Missouri Conservation Department offers the free fishing to promote Missouri waterways, whether it's Mark Twain Lake, a state park like Waconda or a river with public access.  It's also a good time to teach kids how to fish and to enjoy a family activity.

If you're looking for a good fishing hole, you might consider downloading the MCD mobile app, MO Fishing.  The app includes a fish identification guide as well as MCD-identified fishing locations and navigation to those areas.
