Mall Clothing Brand Closing All Stores Including 15 in Illinois
Yet another long-standing mall clothing chain is calling it a day as reports confirm they will soon close all of their stores which includes 15 locations in Illinois.
CNBC is reporting today that for the 2nd time in 6 years, Forever 21 has declared bankruptcy and this time they're closing all of their remaining stores. According to the official Forever 21 store locator page, there are 15 stores in Illinois that will be affected by this decision.
- Aurora
- Champaign
- Chicago
- Chicago Ridge
- Fairview Heights
- Gurnee
- Lombard
- Norridge
- North Riverside
- Northbrook
- Orland Park
- Rosemont
- Schaumburg
- Skokie
Why is Forever 21 closing its stores?
They are blaming online retailers Temu and Shein which champion "fast fashion". It would appear that brick and mortar Forever 21 stores were not able to keep up with the transition that many shoppers have made to online solutions for clothing.
The report says that liquidation sales have begun at nearly all Forever 21 stores, but they are still hopeful someone might purchase them in the 11th hour. Time will tell about that, but as of this date, it's the story of another mall retailer that is putting the locks on their doors.
