
Illinois Crime Crackdown Nets 23 Felony Charges in 2 Nights
Illinois police continue to bring the hammer down on crime with a recent 2-night sting operation that resulted in at least 23 felony charges.
The Illinois State Police just completed a violent crime suppression detail in East St. Louis
According to the Public Information Office of the Illinois State Police, they spent the nights of October 4 and 5, 2025 in East St. Louis, Illinois with a focus on "high crime areas, violent offenders, and structured criminal groups". That effort resulted in the following charges issued by law enforcement:
- Arrests 17
- Felony Charges 23
- Criminal Charges 29
- Firearm Related Charges 15
- Firearms Seized 9
The Illinois State Police made many traffic stops during this two night operation where they found numerous narcotics and firearms. They say this crackdown was a cooperative effort from a large number of police agencies around the state of Illinois including Troops 7 and 8, Zone 6 Firearms Investigations Unit, Public Safety Enforcement Group (PSEG), Crime Scene Services, and ISP Air Operations, assisted ISP Statewide Anti-Violence Enforcement (SAVE) South and the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southern Illinois.
