As recent storms dumped large amounts of rain in a short period of time over central Illinois, many towns experienced some crazy flash flooding events. New drone video shows what happened in Heyworth, Illinois.

Chicago & Midwest Storm Chasers shared these details about the video they captured in Heyworth:

Flash flooding took place in Heyworth, Illinois on 7-16-2021 when some thunderstorms dumped 3-5 inches of rainfall in a short period of time.

Accuweather documented the many road closures around Heyworth in response to the 3 to 5 inches of rain that fell:

Emergency management reported numerous road closures between Leroy, Downs, and Heyworth. The closures include: County Highway 29 1.5 miles south of Downs, County Road 21 1 mile north of Leroy, and the Leroy-Lexington Blacktop between 800 North and 500 North.

The good news is that The Weather Channel is forecasting almost an entire week without any expected precipitation. Considering the fact that we've seen almost constant thunderstorms for the past 10 days, this area could use some relief so the area can recover.
