Mother nature presented  fabulous weather for the 2018 Dogwood Festival Parade on Saturday in Quincy.  Thousands turned out to watch the parade which featured over 120 entries and had a theme of "Team Quincy". Each year three major awards are presented to certain entries.  Those awards, presented by the Chamber of Commerce, are the Mary Lou Kent Theme Award, the Governor's Award and the Mayor's Award.  They are judged by the staff of the Chamber of Commerce using the criteria of appealing to the eyes, creativity & originality, quality of workmanship, and use of people.

This year's Mary Lou Kent winner for best use of the parade theme was the Quincy University Aviation Club for their float which featured Aviation Club students wearing airplanes.

The Governor's award winner featuring a float over 10 feet long and using the parade theme was the Good Samaritan Home with a super hero themed float showing the word "Samaritans Assemble".

The Mayor's Award winner with a float under 10 feet long and using the parade theme went to The Quincy Community Theatre (Q.C.T.).  Their display was entitled "Team Theatre" and showcased actors from "Is He Dead", the current production by the Q.C.T., joined by volunteers and theatre students as well.

The Dogwood Parade sponsors were The Chamber of Commerce, Blessing Health System and Gates Air.
